Welcome To The City of Crawfordsville
Crawfordsville
is the county seat of Montgomery County, Indiana and is home to over 15,000
residents. The City has consistently appeared in the top 100 Best
Small Towns in America. It all started in 1813 when three rangers,
Williamson Dunn, Henry Ristine, and Major Ambrose Whitlock noted that the
site of present-day Crawfordsville was ide
al
for settlement. They returned a decade later to find at least one cabin
built. Major Whitlock laid out the town in March 1823. Crawfordsville was
named in honor of Colonel William H. Crawford. In 1832, Wabash College, an
all-male liberal arts college was founded in Crawfordsville. Today
Crawfordsville is still rich with history and the friendly mid-western
life.
