City Council ward 2
Nellie Thompson (Democrat)
Mrs. Thompson just completed 4 terms (16 years) as the
Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Crawfordsville. Prior to that, she
was employed by Farm Credit Services for 23 years. She and her
husband Bill are long time residents of Crawfordsville. They have
4 children and 5 grand children. With 16 years experience in City
government, Thompson brings a strong financial background to the City
Council, having been involved in the development and oversight of all
City budgets, as well as serving as the finance officer of the City.
Mrs. Thompson believes with her financial experience and knowledge of
City government, she will be able to assist the City Council and the
City administration in maintaining the City's financial stability and
weather the challenges ahead. She believes the City must cooperate
with County and State officials as well as other appointed boards if the
City expects to see results in developing a strong economic plan that
will put Crawfordsville and Montgomery County on the map. Her goal
is to ensure a strong community for years to come. This
cooperation and a strong line of communication will be crucial to the
economic future of our City and County. We must consider the
citizens we serve. They deserve strong, fair leadership. All
parties affected by any action taken by government agencies have a legal
and moral right to be heard and respected for their opinions. Mrs.
Thompson is committed to that type of leadership.
