Ten things you can do to help prevent Storm Water pollution:

 1. Direct downspouts away from paved surfaces; consider a rain garden to  capture runoff

 2. Pick up after your pet

 3. Report illegal dumping

 4. Dispose of chemicals properly. Never dump anything down storm drains or in streams!

 5. Limit the amount of fertilizer and pesticides used on gardens and lawns

 6. Check your car for leaks and recycle your motor oil

 7. Take your car to the carwash instead of washing it in the driveway

 8. Sweep up driveways, sidewalks, and gutters

 9. Have your septic tank pumped and system inspected regularly

10. Get involved in water educational programs
