City of Crawfordsville - Mayor's Office
Mayor Todd Barton
As chief executive the Mayor is responsible for the
overall operation of City government. The Mayor's term of office
is for four years with no restrictions on the number of terms which can
be served. The Mayor's powers and duties include:
- Enforcing ordinances of the City and statutes of the State
- Calling special meetings of the
City Council when
necessary
- Filling vacancies in City offices when required
- Signing all deeds, bonds, and contracts of the City
- Approving or vetoing ordinances, orders, and resolutions of the
City Council
- Appointing the heads of executive departments and many Board
Commission members
- Preparing the City budget for
City Council review
- Serving as presiding officer of the
City Council
