Dear Visitor, Crawfordsville is a city with a distinguished past and a bright future. We have Lew Wallace's (author of Ben Hur) Study, the Lane Place, and the Old Jail Museum, all truly gems of the city. We are also blessed with a diverse list of industries. R.R. Donnelley, Nucor Steel, Sommer Metalcraft, Acuity Lighting and Random House just to name a few. Each one with generations of workers dedicated to local employers. We have a full scale Parks Department with a 4.2 mile nature trail leading to beautiful Sugar Creek, Shades State Park and Turkey Run State Park nearby to keep us close to nature. Downtown Crawfordsville gives one that old town feeling and sense of community, while Crawfordsville High School and Wabash College provide top of the line educations to our students. During the spring and summer, Crawfordsville and surrounding communities come alive with festivals for all ages. Conveniently located near Lafayette, Indianapolis, and Terre Haute, one can simply hop on a meandering road, state highway or interstate to get where they need to go. Most important is our new Crawfordsville Commerce Park. This site provides for future growth and will allow Crawfordsville to bring new business, large or small, to the community. As you can see, not only does Crawfordsville have a lot to offer, it is a nice place to work and live. Sincerely, Mayor Charles E. Coons |
