SENIOR CELEBRATION

The Montgomery County Council on Aging is hosting its third annual Senior Celebration. This year's Celebration will include vendor exhibits, entertainment, lunch provided by Wellbrooke, and prize drawings.

APRIL 26, 2018 - NEWFIELDS / INDIANAPOLIS MUSEUM OF ART

Guided tour the of the "Ben Bes: Chicago Mad Hatter" and "Picasso Exhibits." Price includes transportation and museum admission/tour. Lunch will follow at the MCL Cafeteria at your expense. Leave Parks and Recreation Dept. at 9:00 am.

COST: $15 per person

MAY 22, 2018 - OLIVER WINERY

Cost includes transportation, admission, tour, wine tasting, and snack. Sack lunch provided on the ride home. Leave Parks and Recreation Dept. at 9:00 am.

JUNE 28, 2018 - GARFIELD PARK CONSERVATORY

We will be stopping for lunch at Christina’s Pancake House at your expense. Leave Parks and Recreation Dept. at 8:30 am.

JULY 24, 2018 - WILLOWFIELD LAVENDER FARM TOUR & TEA TASTING

Cost is $10.00 per person and includes transportation, admission and a sack lunch on the ride home. Leave Parks and Recreation Dept. at 9:00 am.

VISION CLUB

WALKING GROUP

A seasonal walking group is being planned once the weather breaks. We will be visiting different communities and exploring their walking trails. We may stop for lunch after the walk if people are interested.

SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB

Some activities of the club include euchre and bingo. The activities are held at the Crawfordsville Community Center. Come and enjoy.

Schedule of Activities:

Wednesday - Bid Euchre - 4 p.m.

Pitch-in lunch on the first Monday of every month at noon.

Bingo on the first and fifth Monday of the month.

COST: $7 annual dues

FUN-CTIONAL FITNESS CLASS

This class was designed with the older adult in mind. It incorporates low impact aerobics, chair aerobics, step aerobics, and toning exercises. Class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:45 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Cost for 65 & older: 12-visit pass is $18 city resident / $20 non-resident

STRENGTH & STRETCH CLASS

This class was designed with the older adult in mind. Class meets on Tuesdays from 10 - 10:45 a.m.

SUNSHINE CHORUS

No auditions! Everyone who likes to sing is welcome. Practice starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Community Center dining room the first and last Friday of the Month.

NUTRITION SITE

The Nutrition Site is located in the Crawfordsville Community Center at 922 E. South Blvd. Meals are provided by Midland Meals Monday - Friday at noon. For persons 60 years or older and persons who qualify.

Other activities at the Nutrition Site include:
Bingo - Tues & Thurs 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
*Nutritional Information - Fourth Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m.
Complimentary Health Checks between 11 a.m. and 1 pm

SUNSHINE VANS

The Sunshine Van office is located in the Crawfordsville Park & Recreation Department. Sunshine Vans are funded by donations, Muffy, Montgomery County Community Foundation, INDOT, Title III, and other grant programs, and is operated by the Crawfordsville Park & Recreation Department. The Sunshine Vans program is a transportation system for person 60 years and older and disabled. Rides are by donation. Sunshine Vans take persons to medical appointments, pick up prescriptions, pick up groceries, personal care trips, and to lunch at the Nutrition Site for lunch and socialization. Call at least 24 hrs in advance to schedule a ride.

Suggested donations are posted in each van. Ask about punch passes. They make great gifts, are offered at a discount and are easy to use.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING BOARD (MCCA)

This board consists of persons interested in the elderly, their participation and fulfillment in life. This Board's purpose is to assess the needs and issues of older adults and direct them to the organizations that provide these important services.The Board meets the third Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. at Franciscan Health Hospital, 1710 Lafayette Ave., Crawfordsville, in the first-floor conference room across from Human Resources.
