The department also maintains 4 command vehicles and 2 boats. All personnel are cross trained in firefighting and EMS duties.

There are 4 major divisions within the department: Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, Inspection/Code Enforcement, and Training. The department responds to approximately 5,000 emergency calls per year, of which approximately 80% involve emergency medical services or rescue. Much time is devoted to public fire education, and approximately 900 fire prevention inspections are completed annually.

CFD station personnel consist of three shifts, each of those shifts operating on a 24-hour schedule. We provide fire protection and paramedic service for the city of Crawfordsville and Union Township as well as paramedic services to Ripley Township.
