Clerk Treasurer
As the chief financial officer for the City of Crawfordsville, the Clerk-Treasurer is subject to the authority of the Indiana State Board of Accounts and responsible for the overall fiscal accounting of City government. The Clerk-Treasurer's term of office is four years, with no restriction on term limits. The Clerk-Treasurer's duties and powers include:
- Providing citizens open access to their public records
- Handling the funds of the City
- Compiling ordinances and resolution
- Preserving and storing City documents
- Serving as secretary to the City Council and Board of Works
- Preparing annual budget estimates and proposed tax rates
- Ensuring public meetings are conducted in a lawful fashion
- Keep accounts showing when and from what sources city money has been received and to whom paid out
- Prescribe payroll and account forms for all city offices - per Indiana State Board of Accounts
- Issue licenses and fees authorized by ordinance
