CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- A testing site for COVID-19 will be demobilized and relocated to Franciscan Health Crawfordsville beginning next week, the Montgomery County Health Department announced Thursday.

Limited testing began in Montgomery County on March 31 with a drive-through location established at Crawfordsville High School. Health officials will conclude testing at that location on Friday, June 26 and will provide testing at a designated area on the Franciscan Health Crawfordsville campus beginning Monday, June 29.

On-going testing is a vital tool for health officials for proper contact tracing and monitoring. These measures assist in limiting and managing the spread of COVID-19. Patients and medical providers will continue to follow the same process used for testing, which is by appointment only and with a doctor’s order.

Testing at Franciscan Health will make staffing of the testing site more efficient, as many workers are based out of nearby Franciscan offices. The change in location also comes as Crawfordsville High School begins preparing for students and staff to return to campus. Local high school athletic trainers, who have assisted in the testing process, will also soon be returning to their respective schools to care for student-athletes as some summer programs begin.

This drive-through testing program at Crawfordsville High School has been made available through the collaborative efforts of the Montgomery County Health Department, Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, Franciscan Physician Network, Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency, Alverno Laboratories, the Crawfordsville Police Department and the Crawfordsville Community School Corporation.
