City Releases Halloween Information

CITY OF CRAWFORDSVILLE
CRAWFORDSVILLE, INDIANA 47933

 PRESS RELEASE

Date: Sept. 23, 2020
Released By: Mayor Barton
Subject: 2020 Trick or Treat Hours

The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety has set 2020 Trick or Treat Hours in the City of Crawfordsville for 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.

This decision was made after much consideration and consultation with the Montgomery County Health Department.

The following points need to be emphasized:

  1. The decision to participate, or not participate, in trick or treating should be made by parents based on their own individual comfort level.  The city has merely set the hours during which trick or treating may take place but parents are ultimately responsible for making their own decision about participation.

  2. The decision to participate, or not participate, in handing out treats should be made by individual residents based on their own comfort level.  The city has merely set the hours during which trick or treating may take place but individual residents are ultimately responsible for making their own decision about participation.  Those wishing to participate are asked to turn on their outside lights and those not wishing to participate are encouraged to leave their outside lights off.

  3. Those participating are encouraged to practice social distancing, avoid situations where large numbers of people congregate and should hand out individually wrapped treats rather than allowing children to reach into a common container for treats.

  4. Trick or Treat hours are set for the specified time and will not be changed, or adjusted, based on the weather forecast.

A decision on whether or not to close West Main Street as in the past will be made at the Sept. 30 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
