Subject: City Clean-Up Day

As part of ongoing efforts to beautify Crawfordsville, city residents will have free access to dumpsters on Saturday, May 27.

City residents will be able to dispose of items in dumpsters. This includes big items that are normally difficult to dispose of such are furniture, box springs and mattresses. This service is being offered free of charge for city residents by the City of Crawfordsville from 9 a.m. to noon at W Enterprises which is located at 302 S. Oak Street (Corner of Oak St. & Wabash Ave.).

This will be the third year in a row this service has been offered and it has grown each year. Last year more than 20 Dumpsters were filled.

"We are hoping our residents will take advantage of this service to dispose of items that are no longer needed" Mayor Barton said. "This is a perfect time to have something like this as people are thinking of cleaning up their properties with the nice weather coming."

In order to ensure the effectiveness of the service, those disposing of items will be asked to sign in and provide the address in Crawfordsville from where the items are coming.

City officials are also urging residents to not only take advantage of this time to clean up their properties, but their neighborhoods as well.

Certain items WILL NOT be accepted. Those include:

  • Tires
  • Hazardous waste materials
  • No construction/remodeling materials such as roofing items, siding, plaster, drywall, etc.
  • Animal waste
  • Yard waste items (Those can be dropped off at the Yard Waste Site every day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free of charge.)

Be sure to mark this day down and pass the word as we all can help clean up our city on May 27.
